The Equilibrium Point Society, or E-Point Society is an American economics society based in Washington, DC. It has members from around the world and its stated mission is "to create opportunities for exchange of ideas among its members, economics professionals, and practitioners in economics and finance".〔The Johns Hopkins University, Equilibrium Point Society Official website〕 It is affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School.〔The Johns Hopkins University, http://advanced.jhu.edu/index.htm〕 The society was founded by Merve Hande Akmehmet in 2010. The name of the society comes from the equilibrium point in economics. In economics, economic equilibrium is a state of the world where economic forces are balanced and in the absence of external influences the (equilibrium) values of economic variables will not change. It is the point at which quantity demanded and quantity supplied are equal.〔Hal R. Varian, ''Microeconomic Analysis'', Third edn. Norton, New York 1992〕 The "Equilibria", a.k.a. "the E Point", symbolizes the intersection point of different thoughts and demands within the Society. ==The Board of Governors== According to The Equilibrium Point Society Bylaws, its Board of Governors shall consist of the most recent President, the elected officers ex officio, Johns Hopkins University faculty members, and two elected members of the Board.
